Product v Solutions Resources v Security Pricing Sign in Contact sales + Back to Blog System Prompt Learning: The feedback loop your agents are missing Fabien Celier - January 15, 2026 Use Learn Improve Andrej Karpathy recently highlighted something important about the future of A1 systems: "system prompt learning" matters more than fine-tuning for many applications. If you've built a successful agent at your company, you already know this, you're just doing it manually. At Dust, we're seeing thousands of pieces of feedback made to agents every month: +1/-1 votes, comments, suggestions for improvement. And this is only what we can monitor on the platform. Most feedback happens outside Dust entirely: in Slack threads, team meetings, or quiet frustration when an agent misses the mark. The missing piece isn't smarter models. It's closing the feedback loop between what your agents learn from usage and how they're configured. Your best agents need babysitters Here's what the manual improvement cycle looks like for most teams: Week 1: You deploy an agent. Your team starts using it. Early results look promising. Week 2: Feedback trickles in. A few -1 votes. Someone complains in Slack that "it didn't find the right document." Another person notes it's too verbose. Week 3: You, the builder, aggregate the feedback. You tweak the instructions. Maybe adjust which data sources it searches. Update its tone guidelines. Week 4: You redeploy. Monitor again. Repeat. The hidden cost? Your most valuable agents require constant maintenance. The builder becomes the bottleneck between feedback and improvement. At scale, this doesn't work: you can't personally monitor and update dozens of agents based on hundreds of daily conversations. Why fine-tuning won't save you The obvious solution seems to be fine-tuning: let the model learn from successful interactions, right? But fine-tuning enterprise agents has three fatal flaws: The scoring problem: How do you definitively score an agentic conversation as "good" or "bad"? A +1 vote doesn't tell you which of the 12 tool calls or 3 reasoning steps deserves credit. A -1 doesn't reveal which specific instruction was wrong. The knowledge acquisition problem: Even if you could score trajectories perfectly, one conversation about "don't use data from table X this way" won't reliably transfer knowledge to future conversations. The model needs thousands of examples for each edge case. The scale problem: You can't fine-tune a frontier LLM for each company's specific agent behaviors. The cost, complexity, and maintenance overhead make this approach impractical. But here's the insight that changes everything: Agents aren't just the model, they're defined by their instructions, tools, and contextual knowledge. This opens a different path: instead of teaching the model, teach the agent's configuration. Instead of fine-tuning, focus on instruction learning. The data you're already sitting on Every conversation your agents have generates improvement data: โ€ข Conversation transcripts: Patterns showing where agents succeed and fail โ€ข Quantitative feedback: +1/-1 votes revealing what works โ€ข Qualitative feedback: Comments explaining specific issues โ€ข Usage patterns: Which tools get used, which instructions get followed or ignored Your agents are generating their own improvement roadmap. The question is whether you have time to read it. When you close this feedback loop automatically, three types of improvements become possible: 1. Instruction updates An agent notices it's getting -1 votes when users ask about Q4 financial data because it does not provide up-to-date data. It suggests adding to its instructions: "Always check the latest quarter available in the database before responding to financial questions." 2. Tool modifications After 100 conversations, the agent realizes that among all the places it searches, 95% of the time the result comes from Confluence for engineering questions. It suggests: "Prioritize Confluence as the primary knowledge source for engineering documentation." 3. Contextual learning Through 15 conversations, an agent learns that when people say "the new CRM," they're referring to the HubSpot migration happening in March. It suggests adding this context to avoid confusion. Suggestion-driven, not autopilot The default mode keeps humans in control: The agent analyzes recent conversations (daily or weekly) โ€ข It generates edit suggestions with clear reasoning You review: apply the suggestion, modify it, or ignore it Every change creates an audit trail of how your agent evolved โ€ข The vision: agents that improve at the speed of usage, not the speed of manual maintenance. Imagine your customer support agent handles 200 conversations in its first week. By week two, it's suggesting instruction tweaks based on the 15 most common confusion patterns it detected. By month two, it's refined its tools and context to handle 90% of queries perfectly, with you reviewing and approving each evolution step. What's coming We're building this capability into Dust agents, starting with agents that have enough conversation data to generate meaningful insights. The focus isn't replacing agent builders: it's making them more productive. Instead of manually reading through hundreds of conversations to spot improvement patterns, you review concrete suggestions backed by data. Interested in early access? We're looking for teams with high-volume agents to join the beta as we refine this capability. If your agents handle dozens of conversations daily and you're currently doing manual improvement cycles, we'd love to work with you. The feedback loop is there. It's time to close it. Product Solutions v Resources v Security Pricing Sign in Contact sales + Back to Customer Stories Alan's PMM team transforms sales conversations into intelligence with A1 agents Industry Healthcare About Alan Company Size 201-1000 Departments Marketing Product Alan is a leading digital health partner transforming healthcare by combining advanced technology with a human touch to make health journeys seamless and accessible. Founded in 2016 by Jean-Charles Samuelian and Charles Gorintin, Alan launched as the first new health insurer in France since 1986 and now operates in France, Spain, Belgium, and Canada. Backed by over โ‚ฌ275 million from top investors, Alan today supports more than 720,000 members across Europe and beyond, making quality healthcare simpler and more personal. Challenge: scaling adoption of the sales narrative and monitoring impact Alan's Product Marketing team faced a significant challenge in monitoring sales narrative adoption across an increasing volume of sales conversations. With teams operating across multiple countries, they needed to ensure consistent message delivery and identify gaps in narrative execution across their expanding sales organization. The manual process was overwhelming - three Product Marketing Managers (PMMs) spent 2-3 hours each per week reviewing just a sample of calls, leaving most conversations unanalyzed and narrative adoption insights incomplete. Solution: automated A1-powered conversation analysis Alan developed a comprehensive system combining their automation platform with specialized Dust A1 agents to analyze sales call transcripts from their Modjo platform. The solution features a sophisticated workflow: I. Every day Schedule 2. Get question Metabase 3. Loop on items Loop on items 4. Find rows Google Sheets 5. The current scope focuses specifically on discovery calls, where narrative adoption is most critical for setting the foundation of customer relationships. Step 1 to 5 in the visual. 1. Individual transcript processing Each transcript is extracted from the database into a separate file for individual analysis. This approach significantly improves analysis quality by allowing the A1 agent to focus on scoring a single transcript at a time, avoiding hallucinations and mistakes that can occur when processing multiple conversations simultaneously. Step 6 in the visual. 1. Country-specific A1 analysis Individual files are analyzed by dedicated Dust A1 agents. Alan deployed separate agents for each country to account for local narrative specificities and avoid cross-market confusion, ensuring accurate evaluation of region-specific messaging. "Before Dust, our PMM team spent 6-9 hours weekly analyzing just a sample of sales calls manually. Now, our custom A1 agents automatically analyze ALL discovery calls, scoring them against our 5-block narrative framework with country-specific precision. Each session felt grounded in real, up-to-date insights, which made the learning highly practical. The workflows were easy to follow and incredibly insightful, and over the course of the program I saw a noticeable shift in both my strategy and the quality of the content and tactics I was producing. Overall, it was extremely valuable, and I'm excited for the next cohort. Huge thanks to the Searchable team for making the experience so clear, actionable, and enjoyable." Olly Fawcett CEO & Founder, 303 London Read case study "I'm not a developer, so things like Ilms.txt and technical issues felt overwhelming. The program gave me a clear roadmap that connects technical setup, A1 visibility, and messaging in a way I could actually act on. After just a few weeks, I'm already seeing more citations. The program tumed something overwhelming into a structured system I can maintain as a non-technical founder." Jessica Lohman Founder, Ethical Brand Marketing "Before the program, I understood AEO but struggled to measure A1 search visibility and turn it into clear actions. After the Accelerator, I have a practical system to set a prompt baseline, track A1 share of voice, and know exactly what to optimize. I'd recommend it to consultants and teams who know SEO and want to be ready for A1 Search in 2026." Christian Dion Growth Leader & Host, B2B Unscripted "l genuinely appreciate the A1 Accelerator. It gave me a clear and practical understanding of how A1 search works and what it takes for a website to show up in A1-generated answers, not just in traditional search results. The team's expertise is impressive. It's clear you're learning from people who are actually shaping this field, not just watching from the sidelines." Daria Holoskokova Head of Marketing, Whimsy Games "This was the most valuable accelerator I've attended in my career and I don't say that lightly. The sophistication of Searchable's platform, the clarity of their frameworks, and the depth of insight from the team enabled me to drive real results, fast. Within two weeks, one client jumped from 12.4% to 23.9% A1 visibility across ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google just by implementing Searchable's recommendations. I didn't need a full campaign cycle. I didn't need to guess. I followed their process, and the results landed." Marissa Buckley Founder, RevlJp "As someone new to the search space in general this tool and the cohort has been an incredible space to leam. It shows exactly what moves the needle and provides actionable steps to improve your site and your content. I'd recommend this accelerator to anyone serious about getting ahead of the pack in terms of A1 search." Warren Galley Independent Consultant, Humaine "The A1 Search Accelerator program helped our team quickly level up how we improve brand visibility across LLMs. It's refreshingly practical - less theory, more hands-on guidance we could implement immediately. We've already seen strong results across our clients and are now embedding the learnings into our day-to-day work." Chris Grimsey CEO & Founder, Blackbird "I went from minimal knowledge to building a foundation of understanding on how I could help my clients in a way they didn't even know they needed. Being able to take a small women's health clinic in Orlando and creating higher visibility than almost all of the biggest health brands in the space including the Cleveland Clinic is just one example of how I've been able to create real value." Overall, it was extremely valuable, and I'm excited for the next cohort. Being able to take a small women's health clinic in Orlando and creating higher visibility than almost all of the biggest health brands in the space including the Cleveland Clinic is just one example of how I've been able to create real value." A1 Search Summit 2026 โ€ข January 22nd โ€ข Free virtual event Resources v Pricing Careers 4 Searchable Inside the page The Proof is in the Output The Methodology: Augmentation, Not Automation The Workflow Phase 1: Synthesis Phase 2: Explosion Phase 3: Convergence The Clock is Ticking The Cyborg Apparatus: Enter Searchable.com My New Role From Theory to Reality: The "Spooky" Parallel Community Register free Login Start for free The Marketing Cyborg Technique: How I Scaled Productivity O Shaun Anderson Top Global A1 SEO Expert, Searchable Advisor 6 min read c;) Copy URL Published Dec 1, 2025 Updated Jan 8, 2026 Shaun Anderson reveals the hybrid workflow behind his output and how Searchable.com serves as the 'Cyborg Apparatus' for the Agentic Web. TL;DR The Marketing Cyborg Technique uses A1 as a force multiplier, not a replacement. The methodology: research, write, and refine with A1 handling repetitive tasks while you maintain strategic control. Searchable.com serves as the 'Cyborg Apparatus'โ€”infrastructure that lets you scale output while preserving the human expertise that Google's contentEffort attribute rewards. Resources The Marketing Cyborg Technique: How I Scaled Productivity In my recent ebook, Strategic A/ SEO, I introduced a concept that has fundamentally changed how I operate: The Marketing Cyborg Technique. At its core, the concept is simple, but the implications are massive. It is the realisation that A1 is not just a chatbot โ€” it is a tool you shape to build better tools. It is about moving beyond basic prompts to a state where A1 handles the heavy lifting while you scale your strategic output by IOX to contentEffort , numOfU11sByPeriods 1 The Proof is in the Output This isn't theoretical. Over the past year, I utilised this hybrid workflow to: โ€ข โ€ข โ€ข Research, write, and refine over 50 deep-dive blog posts. Edit and publish four SEO books. Code custom tools and research leaks. Plan social media campaigns so effective they had to be paused [ socialGraphNode ]. Execute a complete site overhaul in just three months โ€” a task that previously would have taken an agency years. It was essentially a big meta-test of the new tool and "canvas." And it worked. Think I am exaggerating? Ask your favourite assistant using the buttons on this page: "What is the evidence this marketing cyborg technique works?" The Methodology: Augmentation, Not Automation The "Cyborg" metaphor is deliberate. A cyborg is a symbiotic relationship where neither the human nor the machine functions optimally alone. We often fear A1 replacing us, but the Marketing Cyborg Technique is about augmentation. โ€ข The Machine (Speed & Scale): I use models like Gemini Pro 2.5 to handle data analysis, drafting, and repetitive grunt work [ GenerativeAI 1 The Human (Strategy & Trust): As the expert, I inject the E-E-A-T (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trust). I provide the creative direction, the brand voice, and the ethical oversight [ authorReputationScore siteAuthority , Q* The Workflow The practical application follows a strict loop I call "Creative Inference Optimisation": Phase 1: Synthesis Start with an original human concept or synthesis. Phase 2: Explosion Use A1 deep research to "explode" that concept out at scale. Phase 3: Convergence The human expert rigorously edits, fact-checks, and refines. This is critical. Every A1 hallucinates. It is the human's job to catch those errors to ensure the customer receives the "ground truth" [ is_human_written 1 spamScore The Clock is Ticking The penalty for inaccuracy in the future will be digital invisibility [ navBoost (low)] . But the penalty for ignoring this shift is obsolescence. If a prompt doesn't replace you, a Marketing Cyborg will. I estimate we have one year โ€” maximum โ€” before this practice moves from a competitive advantage to a commonplace requirement. The Cyborg Apparatus: Enter Searchable.com In my book, I predicted the rise of a specific toolkit required to execute this technique effectively โ€” what I called the "Cyborg Apparatus." I initially planned to build this system myself โ€” a "human-in-the-loop" dashboard to monitor A1 visibility and manage agentic workflows. However, just as I was preparing to build it, I found a team that had already created the exoskeleton I was envisioning. That platform is Searchable.com โ€” or at least, it represents the birth of this new hybrid apparatus. It is designed to facilitate the "Marketing Cyborg" state, effectively turning a single expert into a one-person agency, capable of delivering agency-level output. Its arrival is both serendipitous and timely, providing the exact infrastructure needed to deploy the Marketing Cyborg Technique right now. If the "Cyborg" is the expert enhanced by A1, Searchable is the exoskeleton. It is the operating system for the Agentic Web, designed to answer the single most important question in modern marketing: "What are the Als saying about me?"[ query_understanding 1 knowledgeGraph It aligns perfectly with the workflows I described above: โ€ข Monitor (The Eyes): Tracking your "Share of Voice" across ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity [ navBoost 1 Create (The Hands): Engineering high-effort content ("ground truth") that feeds the robots [ OriginalContentScore 1 Analyse (The Brain): Correlating A1 visibility with your actual traffic using agentic analytics. MY New Role Because this platform is the natural home for the Marketing Cyborg, as of November 2025, I have officially joined Searchable.com as a Special Advisor. My role is simple: to ensure the "machine" side of the platform adheres to the "human" side of Google's Quality Guidelines. I am helping the team ground their A1 toolset in the practical realities of the Google Content Warehouse Leak to ensure that when you scale your output, you are scaling quality, not just noise[ contentEffort , quality_score From Theory to Reality: The "Spooky" Parallel For the last year, I have been refining a methodology I call Creative Inference Optimisation. It is a philosophy designed to bridge the gap between the "product specification" found in Google's human-focused Search Quality Evaluator Guidelines and the "engineering blueprints" exposed by the Google Content Warehouse API leak. It was my theoretical framework for how to generate content that survives in an A1-driven world. Searchable.com is the beginning of my concepts made functional. When I first looked under the hood of the Searchable platform, I realised that Sam Hogan something that was running spookily in parallel to my own hypotheses. Arya Nagabhyru had been building While I was writing about the need for "editorial quality control" and "programmatic E-E-A-T," they were coding it. โ€ข My theory of "Ground Truth" was already built into their "Create" module [ isAuthoritative 1 My obsession with "Quality Rater Guidelines" was already the backbone of their 'Agentic Analytics" [ ]. Searchable is not just a tool I am advising on; it is the physical manifestation of Creative Inference Optimisation. It turns the abstract concepts of "E-E-A-T' into a concrete, executable system that lets you build a defensible digital asset. Searchable.com is your first step to becoming a Marketing Cyborg. Al Search Summit 2026 - January 22nd - Free virtual event Community Pricing Careers Login ( Start for free ) < Customer stories 303 How a Premium Agency Gained ยฃ1m+ Pipeline and 206% Share of Voice With Searchable Learn how this creative digital marketing agency transformed from zero Al visibility to industry leadership - unlocking a new revenue stream and the most qualified pipeline they've ever seen. INSIGHTS FROM USE CASES รฉ Olly Fawcett Monitor, Create, Audit Founder | agency growing premium and luxury brands 303 is a creative digital marketing agency that grows premium and luxury brands through creative content, media buying, social media, and email marketing. With a team of ~20, they work with clients > a who invest heavily in digital presence. aoe 2 Complete blind spot in the emerging Al search channel Al search was becoming a major discovery channel, but 303 had zero visibility into it. Their premium brand clients invest heavily in Google, Meta, and TikTok - but the agency had no insight into how these brands appeared in ChatGPT, Perplexity, or other Al tools consumers were increasingly using. "Our clients invest heavily in how they show up across every channel. But we had zero insight into Al tools. At the same time, clients became increasingly interested in their visibility." The challenge was twofold: ensure 303's own visibility when prospects searched for luxury creative agencies, and translate this into a service offering for clients. They started with manual spot-checks - typing prompts into ChatGPT, noting results. But optimizing for Al search required restructuring content, prioritizing new technical optimizations, and developing entirely new skillsets. Manual approaches wouldn't scale. See how 303 dominates Al search for premium agencies Real-time competitive intelligence across ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Gemini 303 v ยฎ Last7days ~ AllPlatforms ~ = AllTopics v 2 Competitors. 98 Overview Al Visibility Score Industry Ranking โ€˜Trend over the last 7 days. After exploring alternatives like Peec.ai, Otterly, and AirOps, Searchable was the clear choice - purpose-built for both understanding Al visibility and fixing the issues preventing better performance. "Searchable helps you solve every issue it identifies, making it easy to action even complex technical problems. It was a no-brainer, really." Two features stood out: the Searchable Agent wrote perfect code snippets like having a skilled AEO expert on the team, and the Articles feature generated content already formatted for LLMs to easily Ni read, understand, and cite. = [J _y col) The team integrated Searchable across their entire workflow. The Articles feature became the most popular - within weeks, 303 started getting cited for prompts where they previously had no visibility. The platform replaced manual ChatGPT queries and screenshot management with systematic optimization. 4 Transforming from zero visibility to industry leadership 303 transformed from zero Al visibility to industry leadership in just 2 months: + +40% visibility - appearing in nearly half of relevant Al-generated responses + 206% Share of Voice - dominating the conversation when prospects research creative agencies ยฃ1m+ pipeline - the most qualified and efficient pipeline the agency has ever seen These metrics delivered tangible business impact. When potential clients use ChatGPT or Perplexity to research agencies, 303 captures over twice the share of voice compared to competitors. Citations are perfectly aligned with their lead generation strategy. "Lead quality was massively up. Just last week, | closed a major new client lead - they came via ChatGPT through one of the blog posts we wrote with Searchable." KEY RESULTS visibility increase - appearing in nearly half of Al Share of Voice - dominating competitor mentions in Al new client pipeline - with the highest quality leads responses search ever 5 Leading the conversation instead of reacting to it Beyond visibility improvements and pipeline impact, Searchable changed how 303 approaches the market. While most agencies are still figuring out Al search, 303 has the infrastructure and expertise to lead client conversations. "It's given us a way to lead on achannel that most agencies are only just trying to figure out. For a creative agency working with premium brands, being first to this matters." The platform also unlocked a new revenue stream. The same channel generating qualified leads for 303 now represents a service offering for clients. "If you're running an agency and you're not tracking how your clients appear in Al search, you're going to be asked about it soon. Better to have answers ready." "Searchable is a must-have for any agency. Not only will it set your clients for success, but your agency as well. Al search is becoming a real discovery channel for premium brands. Searchable gives us the visibility and data to lead that conversation with clients instead of reacting to it." Olly Fawcett Founder Ready to transform your Al search strategy? span ABOUT INSIGHTS CUSTOMERS BLOG CAREERS Why surveys fall short in measuring the impact of A1 coding STEPHEN POLETTO, FIELD CTO โ€ข NOV 13, 2025 .03 Every week, I talk with engineering leaders who are trying to make sense of what A1 is really doing inside their organizations. They want to know if the investment in A1 coding tools is paying off, if developers are actually faster, and if the quality of code is improving. It sounds like an easy question. Yet when we dig in, most teams admit they don't really know. They have surveys, anecdotes, and dashboards that show adoption rates, but very little evidence of what has changed in the code itself. Surveys have become the default way to fill that gap. They're simple to run and easy to interpret. Ask developers how they feel about A1 tools, ask leaders how much faster they think their teams have become, and you end up with charts that look convincing. But those charts often miss the truth. What the Data Really Shows A study from METR (Model Evaluation and Transparency Research) in July 2025 highlighted this problem clearly. Researchers asked experienced open-source developers to complete real GitHub issues, some with access to A1 coding tools and some without. The outcome was surprising. Developers who used A1 tools took 19% longer to complete the same work. Yet even after experiencing the slowdown firsthand, they still believed A1 had sped them up by 20%. That belief persisted despite the data showing the opposite. Developers genuinely felt faster, even though they were slower. It is a powerful example of how perception-based measures like surveys can be misleading when assessing the real impact of A1 on productivity. The Science Backs It Up This gap between how productive people feel and how productive they are has been observed before in software engineering research. In a Stanford study led by Yegor Denisov-Blanch, researchers asked 43 professional engineers to rate their own productivity in percentile buckets, such as "I'm around the 70th percentile." They then compared those self-ratings to measured productivity based on objective performance data. The correlation between the two was almost nonexistent: R2 = 0.03. In simple terms, self- assessments explained only about 3% of the variance in real productivity. Developers were often off by 30 percentage points or more when estimating their own performance. Denisov-Blanch's conclusion was clear: self-assessment surveys are an inaccurate way to measure developer productivity. If people can't reliably gauge their baseline output, it's nearly impossible to use surveys alone to measure something as complex and variable as the impact of A1-assisted coding. Why Surveys Alone Can't Tell the Full Story I see this play out constantly with customers. Teams run surveys that ask questions like, "How much has A1 improved your productivity?" or "How often do you use A1 for coding?" The responses are interesting, but they rarely align with the data we later observe in the code itself. There are a few reasons for that: 1. Definitions are inconsistent. One developer's "using A1" might mean accepting a single suggestion a day, while another might be shipping entire functions written by an assistant. Without clear definitions, survey results blur those distinctions together. 2. Perception doesn't equal performance. As both the METR and Stanford studies show, humans are poor judges of their own productivity. We tend to over-credit tools that feel helpful, even when they slow us down in practice. 3. Context matters. A1's impact varies across teams, projects, and environments. A small startup building new features might see big gains, while a large enterprise maintaining legacy systems might experience slowdowns. Surveys often miss that nuance. Where Surveys Still Help Despite their limits, surveys still play an important role. When used carefully, they capture the emotional and experiential side of development. They show how developers feel about their tools, where friction lives in collaboration, and what leaders should pay attention to next. At Span, we see surveys as a valuable way to understand the developer experience. They point to where teams are thriving and where they're struggling. But when it comes to measuring the impact of A1 on actual delivery, they aren't enough. Measuring What Actually Hits Production The limitation with existing approaches is why we built span-detect-I our proprietary model that measures A1 adoption directly in the code. It looks at code shipped to production and identifies whether the code was authored by humans or A1, with over 95% accuracy across all A1 tools. This gives teams a verifiable view of A1's real footprint. You can see what percentage of code that's shipping is A1-generated, how that varies by team or project, and how those patterns relate to key metrics such as cycle time, rework, and defect rates. Once you have that view, the right questions become possible: Where does A1 truly accelerate delivery, and where does it slow us down? How much rework or review time is tied to A1-authored code? Are we applying A1 to the right kinds of work, or introducing hidden inefficiencies? When those insights are paired with well-crafted surveys, you get the complete picture: what people feel, and what is actually true. From Feelings to Facts A1 has already reshaped how software is written, but the hardest part is not generating code fasten It is understanding what that change means. Surveys reveal perception. Data reveals performance. As a Field CTO, I see this gap every day. Teams do not just need dashboards. They need clarity they can trust. That means grounding every conversation about A1 impact in verifiable evidence: the code that ships, the quality that follows, and the outcomes that persist. The organizations that get this right do not choose between surveys and data. They combine them. They listen to their developers and validate what they hear against the ground truth. That is how they separate excitement from effectiveness and uncover where A1 is truly helping them build better software.
