© Reply Email Deliverability Best « Practices and Anti-Spam Measures (0% COMPLETED @ 1.Email Deliverability Basics Email Deliverability Basics Delivering email to the recipient’s inbox is a key indicator of a successful deliverability process. The email deliverability rate is the ratio between the number of emails that got into the recipient's inbox to the number of all emails sent. What are good and bad deliverability rates? Essentially, an email deliverability rate of 98%+ is great, from 90-98% is good, 80-90% average and lower than 80% needs a lot of improvements. Why is email deliverability so important? Email deliverability directly affects your email campaigns and overall business success. Low deliverability rates may hurt your sending reputation and cause spam issues, thus increasing the cost of campaigns, lead generation, and the efforts spent. Basic aspects of email deliverability: ¢ Basic infrastructure and authentication Interaction with prospects; lists and content quality Basic infrastructure and authentication Ensure that you are using trusted providers with a good reputation to perform email campaigns. Check if your domain is fully authenticated to send emails: SPF and DKIM should be set correctly. Proper authentication protects your email and domain reputation while also reducing the risk of your emails getting caught up spam filters. Also, check your domain and IP reputation to avoid appearing in blacklists. Note: If you've recently purchased a brand new domain, wait 2-3 weeks (during this time, send out emails directly from the email account to other corporate email addresses, personal email address/friends to create natural traffic). After that, you may start to gradually increase the number of emails sent to other recipients. Interaction with prospects Prospects’ behaviour The way prospects interact with your emails gives email providers signals on how to identify your emails. If your emails are deleted without reading or if they are marked as spam, your sender reputation will be hurt. On the contrary, if your emails are opened, replied, or forwarded, you will be marked as a good source of emails. That’s why it’s critical to plan your email strategy: ¢ Find a balance of sending frequency (not too often, not too rarely) ¢ Don’t annoy your recipients * Give the possibility to unsubscribe List quality * Do not purchase lists of emails There is always a risk of getting high volumes of invalid emails\spam traps ¢ Validate your list before launching a campaign Sending emails to invalid emails may hurt your sending reputation ¢ Do not send too many emails to people from one organization/corporate domain risk being red-flagged * Choose whom to send Choose your target audience based on who will be interested your emails. Otherwise, you'll have a lot of complaints. Content quality ¢ Plain text is always better than text with images and links If you include links, be sure, they are not blacklisted. ¢ Never use short link services (bit.ly etc.) Spam filters react and mark emails as spam * Do not CAPSLOCK in the subject line ¢ Don't use stop words (check the most popular stop spam words) Fighting for your prospect’s inbox is a continuous battle with ISP (email service providers). This fight has no weekends or breaks, as you need to gain and support your sending reputation 24\7. Q
